LOVE SONGS. When I was a kid, watching clouds was a way to find refuge and solace from the world, and in these current difficult times, I find myself again looking to the clouds for a pause from heavy worldly realities.
Clouds remind me of the transitory nature of life. Their presence in the sky provides an intermediary between the Earth and the expansive universe beyond. Clouds can be tenuous, turbulent, tepid, or towering; they embody a mood and stir emotion.
Watching clouds move, form, shift ... I hear music. When I then pick up a brush to paint the cloudscape, I seek out the songs that played in my head. The melodies and lyrics find their way onto the canvas and weave their notes into the painting.
Painting clouds is a joyful, rewarding process, and a way to connect the unknown with the tangible, a song to a memory. They are my love songs to the universe.
